Responder Rant (February)
By Dr Bianca Felix
In February’s Australian Medicine, published by the AMA, the regular ‘Workplace” column was devoted to the RANZCP – and how many complaints are received about it!In fact, RANZCP tops the list for the number of complaints received from AMA members! Surprised?!And it seems most of the complaints are from trainees: changes to training… fee administration… exam issues… Sound familiar?!According to the column, RANZCP’s response to the critical AMC review has not stemmed the tide of complaints.
The columnist points out that Psychiatry is struggling to attract new recruits. Since RANZCP is not engaging in good PR, by implication, it is not presenting an attractive face to potential trainees.
Makes me wonder why I joined in the first place?!
Oh yeah, I hadn’t really idea about what RANZCP was, did, or how it operated. I was a naïve little junior doctor with a longstanding interest in Psychological Medicine.
For those of you who do want to deal with a trainee-friendly college, apparently the College of Surgeons is now leading the way.
Where’s my scalpel?
