This New Zealand North Island hospital is located in the Northern region of New Zealand. It's services to the public include  an Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit, a 24 hour Emergency Department,  Maternal and Child Health - purpose built Child Health Centre, and Paediatrics &#8211; Paediatric Ward, Special Care Baby Unit and Intensive Care Unit.

The town basin is a major attraction and it is easy to spend an hour or three relaxing on the waterfront. There are also museums, copious caf&#233;s &amp; restaurants, a theatre, a couple of gyms, a cinema, various clubs, not to mention the numerous pubs and an ever-increasing number of night-clubs to suit a variety of tastes.

Where this location really excels is in what is in the surrounding areas, accessible within a day&#8217;s drive from this town. Some places are generally near enough to get to and back from within one day&#8217;s drive and should you want to. Some others really need to be taken at a more leisurely pace if you really want to enjoy them. 

A current vacancy exists for a Psychiatry Registrar to commence in June 2010 for a minimum 6 month contract.

This position is based in the local mental health service of this South Island health service. There are two hospitals within this service with the main hospital having 350 beds and the second, only 116 beds. There are 3000 multidisciplinary staff servicing over 180,000 people. There is a close relationship with the local university. This Mental Health service requires the services of a Psychiatry Registrar to support their team in providing quality service to their patients, families and the general community.     <description>Full time young onset dementia trainee - Specialist Psychiatry Registrar in Young Onset Dementia.  August 2010-February 2011
This position is an excellent opportunity to work full time in an assessment service for patients with Young Onset Dementia. This position has been established at the Neuropsychiatry Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital under the auspices of the Commonwealth Government Expanded Specialist Training Programs initiative. The successful applicant&#8217;s roles will include
 - inpatient and outpatient assessment and follow up of patients with Young Onset Dementia.
 - attendance at neurogenetics clinics
- close liaison with the Alzheimer's Association and the Huntington's Disease Association
 - the delivery of educational programmes to clinicians, patients and carers
- undertaking of supported research in this area. 
-  involvement in the development of services for this patient and carer group, 


This position offers an unprecedented exposure to wide range of clinical and research material that represent an invaluable and challenging training experience for senior trainees.
